I have a massive headache today. And a slightly stuffy nose. Bah.

Went to my old high school today to fill out the form to shoot my short film there next week. I wrote the address of the school instead of my actual address by accident, but hopefully their answer still manages to find its way to me somehow. Hung out with Gabby as well today, so that was fun. But dear God, that town is a fucking wasteland. Thank God I don't live there anymore.

I'm scared of my recent obsession with Rorschach. I fear I am turning into One Of Those. I wish I liked a character it wasn't so cliche to like. And I don't mean "like" as in "OMG Rorschach is so bad-asssss and is like t0tally a hero omg so cool!", but "like" as in "Wow, what a psychologically interesting character and his movie incarnation makes me feel all *~tingly~*".

I blame JEH who is absolutely, unbelievably kickass and knocked every damn scene out of the ballpark.

I'm blaming JEH as well, even though when he is not playing Rorschach he does absolutely nothing for me. But yes, this should excuse us completely. And if it doesn't... well, fuck, too bad.

What kills me is that it's undoing my steadfast things bother me about the novel itself because, uh, it's cool and all, and everyone should read it once, it's that important in the history of comics, but it's not MY FAVORITE, OMG!!!11! even though I did enjoy a lot of the universe created for it. And so much of it is against all of my thinky thoughts and yet I've always had a tiny respect for Rorschach because he really does live by the sword, and then die by the sword, and that's rarely done well, you know? Because as much as he does makes me cringe, he owns that, if that makes any sense. So I always had respect for the character aspect even if a lot of it made me cringe.

And after I saw the movie, it's like... BAM, MUST FLAIL OVER HOW WONDERFULLY FUCKED-UP HE IS ON A MILLION LEVELS AND HOW JEH JUST... FUCKING NAILED HIM.

Not just the awesome prison scenes but that scene with Dan and his last scene and when Christian Bale did the growling, it just pissed me off and made me LOL but when JEH did, IT SOMEHOW PWNED AND COMPLETELY JUST WORKED, and the prison scenes and his completely crack-up when they took his 'face' and his body language of epic win.

PLZ STOP YOUR KICKASS JOB WITH THIS CHARACTER, JEH, AND LET ME DISCONNECT FROM HIM AGAIN, D:

Exactly! I very much enjoyed the GN, but it pretty much went to the back of my mind for a while, until I saw this movie and then JEH just blew me out of the water, and a character I found interesting before but was not enamored with, I am now semi-obsessed with, all because of his fantastic performance. GOD DAMN IT.

I haven't seen the movie yet but when I first read the comic I was put off by his blatant misogyny, homophobia and the fact that so many seemed to idolize him. Now, of course, I like him for the anti-social awkward sugar-stealing creepster that he is.

Everyone should love Rorschach, though, :o Not because he's OMG SO FUCKING AWESOMESAUCE -- more like, Goddamn, that is one complex, well-written mofo. And he's kind of gay for Dan, in an anti-social/right-wing/fucked-up/closet-case bromance kind of way.

But yes, anyone who emulates/obsesses over him is retarded. And likely thirteen. And therefor retarded. (If it makes you feel better JEH!Rorschach made me all tingly too, :O)
