God, I keep meaning to write more freaking entries in here, but I always wind up distracted by the shininess of Tumblr.

I went to Washington DC this weekend (i.e. Thursday-Sunday morning) with Rob and his family! We stayed at a pretty dang fancy hotel, although the serious disadvantage was that it was about a million miles away from everything. GOD, SO MUCH FUCKING WALKING. And it was incredibly hot too, which of course didn't help. The first two days I think I must have walked about 20 miles total. God, it was ridiculous. I was sure I was going to perish, but I didn't, thankfully. But I had a nice time! We went to some cool museums, a book store, an awesome cupcake place, Georgetown, and that Serendipity restaurant with all the insane desserts. I got a slice of cake as big as my face and I couldn't finish it.

I also, somehow, managed to get some writing done! I'm working on the multi-chaptered Tony/Bruce fic right now, and it's... well, it's going. I have no idea if it's any good or exactly everything that's going to happen, or even how long it's gonna be. I want to say it won't be any longer than ten chapters, but I don't want to hold myself to anything. I just really hope to finish it before the Skyrim DLC is released, because once that comes out I am not going to be doing anything else at all, probably.

Tomorrow is Bonner's birthday trip with her and Kate to a Tim Kreider book signing. I have work at 9 am the next day though, so I'm gonna try to not leave too late... I most likely will, though.

I don't know if any of you remember this entry where I explained who Tim Kreider is, but if it's too tl;dr for you, here is a short summary: He is a liberal political cartoonist that me and my friend Bonner got into when we were in high school, and we basically worshiped the guy.

Now, onto the story. Bonner calls me up on Saturday and informs me that Mr. Kreider is going to be doing a slide presentation show in NYC on Valentine's Day and that we had to go. Luckily I happened to not have work that day. ~DESTINY

We went to Sophie's house first and watched "Up" (I think I must've seen that movie like 7 times by now, but it's so great!), then headed on our adventure.

The year was 2005. I was a young lass, either coming towards the end of freshman year or near the beginning of my sophomore year, I can't remember which. I do remember, though, that my liberal tendencies had just been planted at the time, my political thoughts and motives not having taken root yet, instead just vague ideas and uncertainities. All I knew was I hated Bush, I supported gay marriage, and I was unsure about abortion. I had no real, concrete reasons why I supported or did not support these things.

One day, I was randomly surfing the Internets, and I stumbled across a certain comic via Google. I am still not sure how I got there, but it changed my life.

More under cut. )
