I went to Comic-Con yesterday! It was a lot more fun than last year, probably because 1) me and Rob dressed up, 2) We went on a day that was not Sunday, and 3) We met up with some friends. Also we went to an Adam West and Burt Ward panel and it was great.

I went as Cersei Lannister -- last-minute costume, though, as I had not been planning on cosplaying in any way but I was invited to a costume party (which I wound up not going to, lol go figure), so it's just a Party City Halloween costume and a blonde wig, but I thought it worked alright. Maybe next year I'll actually try to be recognizable. And Rob went as an Aperture Science field test subject, since he got a fo realz Portal gun for his birthday. Well, it doesn't shoot actual portals obviously, but it's life-size and lights up and does sound effects and everything! People kept stopping us every few minutes so they could get a photo and geek out over the gun. I got my photo taken several times too, even though I'm positive no one knew who I was dressed up as.

Photos! )

My feet were killlling me by around noon, though. Never wearing heels to one of these things ever again. What a mistake.

I got some cool stuff, though -- a book signed by The Oatmeal, a Tesla > Edison shirt, some Game of Thrones illustrations from Artist Alley, a House Lannister patch, and an Iron Man glass.

Then I fell asleep at 10 am and slept for about 10 hours, then took a nap for 45 minutes not long after waking. Exhausted. Thankfully I had off today. Not sure I would've been able to handle going into work.

So, today marks the six month anniversary of me and Rob officially being a Couple. Yay! We're probably not gonna go do anything, since we're both working today and the car's headlight has fallen out so we can't go anywhere, but still. It's been an awesome six months.

Oh, I also went to Comic Con with him on Sunday. We got there early, but unlike last year the free stuff was kind of lame. Maybe it wasn't lame on Friday and Saturday, but it definitely was when we went. Sigh. We spent a couple hours running around the show floor, I got a plushie from Cyanide and Happiness and Rob got a t-shirt so they did a hilarious drawing for us:

It's hanging in front of my bed now. Anyway, yeah, we bought some stuff (I got the plushie, a Spider-Man glass, and a Spider-Girl comic), but not too much because we didn't really plan ahead very well. I only brought $25, unlike last year when I had $200. Then we left around 1:30 after watching the demo for Max Payne 3 because the place was getting waaaaaay too fucking crowded, there were no panels we wanted to see, and we had no more money left to spend.

Next year we're gonna have to try to go all three days and save up more money. BECAUSE WE MISSED THE FUCKING AVENGERS PANEL GOD FUCKING DAMMIT.

I didn't take a ton of pictures, but hopefully these will suffice. Footage will be coming in my Five Nerdy Friends video on Thursday.

Snake vs. The Chicken

More under the cut. )

It was so much fun! I didn't wind up going today but it was a blast. I'd really love to go again next year.

I am completely wiped out. I even left early I was so tired... I would have stayed, but there wasn't anything until the Ugly Americans panel at 6:15, and there were just huge crowds everywhere. I also didn't feel like waiting in line for Romita's autograph, so I tracked down Corrine and Luke for their keys and took a nap for an hour, then went and got some Thai food. I'm probably not going to go tomorrow, either -- if I go tomorrow it would only be for the autograph, but again, lines suck and I want to sleep in.

Despite my sleepiness, I had a good time today. I wasn't planning on going to the Top Cow panel where Milo Ventimiglia made an appearance, but me and [livejournal.com profile] trinaweena met up there, and the three of us (third being Sophie) went to it. This officially marks the first time I've ever met someone from the Internet! I'm coming for the rest of you

I also bought Batman action figures and a Spider-Girl graphic novel. How the hell am I going to carry all this shit home?!

I just got back from Comic-Con, and it was craaaaazy. Crazy awesome and also just crazy. I've never been to Comic Con before, so seeing just how HUGE the place was, and geeks everywhere in costumes, and the crazy lines, and the panels and the comics and the crowds -- such an experience. I was on the floor for only about ten minutes when I already bought $40 worth of stuff. I got the Stark: Disassembled series, and also got a Cyanide & Happiness book signed by the creators themselves! They were really cool and had neato hats and shirts.

I got there pretty early -- around 10 or so -- so I was one of the first people in line, and they gave us free stuff, and I got a Spider-Man toy for free, and also a couple of comics, a Power Rangers DVD, some cards, etc. Plus I was standing next to this dude in a chicken costume, and he challenged costume-wearers passing by to fights. He fought Snake, SymbioteSuit!Spiderman, and one of the dudes from Halo. It was fantastic. I got a couple of pictures, but I'll wait to post them all 'til I get home (I'm staying over at a friend's house for the weekend). I didn't think waiting in line would be such fun, but it was! Stan Lee waved to us from the window and everyone started flipping out, lol. I also walked past Stan Lee later, and the dude walks really fast! He had this whole group of people trailing after him. We also walked past Seth Green. Good times.

Tomorrow I'm hoping to get something signed by Romita. Let's see if it happens!

I swear, these past couple of weeks have just been a string of people canceling plans on me. Sigh. Now I don't know where I'm staying for Comic-Con. I would just stay home and get the bus from here, but 1) it'd be way too expensive -- like $60. It'd be cheaper to stay in a hostel, for crying out loud. Not that I will. I'm just saying. 2) It takes over an hour to get into the city from here, not including the morning traffic that will be at the Lincoln Tunnel at 7 a.m. or so.

Dammit dammit dammit.

I ordered my ticket for New York Comic-Con a couple days ago! I'm excited. It's a 3-day pass and I'm going with [livejournal.com profile] sidonay and we are going to have an awesome time. Is anyone else going?

I may be going to New York in a couple minutes. It's such a nice day out, I figure I might as well.
