I saw the Nostalgia Critic review of the infamously bad independent film The Room, and I have to say, I really, really want to see the whole thing. I have instructed Bonner to get it for me for my birthday.

Although, in some ways, it reminds me a lot of some of the student films I was forced to watch at SVA. The terrible writing, the bad acting (although maybe not as bad as Tommy Wiseau's), the atmosphere of "This Is Deep Art, People" that pervades, even though it most assuredly is not. I am really only thinking of a couple of people with this (and you can probably guess who they are, if you ever read my entries from when I was still going there), but still.

Ha ha, that reminds me of the creative writing department at my high school. The teacher in charge was enthusiastic about everything and seemed not to be very good at directing her students' creative impulses so that the literary journals and performances had a lot of those "I'm doing Art, you plebes" feel to it. Of course the Media department had their share of those as well, but Media nights were much better since it went by quicker and had a greater share of good films than not.

My production teacher was just like that! It was like, "Oh, this is SERIOUS ART that is SERIOUS" but half of the time he didn't know what he was talking about... I mean, I liked him, but still. Pretension was encouraged and I was just like ugggh.
