After Effects

You guys remember the dude from last year who paid me to make this trailer for him? Well, he now wants me to add additional things in the background -- like lights, stars, etc. I, like... don't even really know where to begin with this! I've been messing around in After Effects all day and I think I have the basics down, but I really don't know how I can really add background images to all of these different shots without a green screen and without it looking stupid and without it overlapping the skaters and actors. So far I've managed to make a twinkling star background, but again, I'm having the issue of the stars covering the actors. Will I have to make a different background for each shot, maybe? Aaaaaaagh.

At least there isn't really a deadline for this. And I'll get paid again.

...And I also just realized I haven't eaten anything yet today. Oops.

eta: It turns out he wants an entirely new background, buttttttt without a green screen. I know I could use rotoscoping but the skaters are moving so much that it would require hours of work, even with CS5's rotobrush tool. He might be passing it off to someone else, but we'll see I guess. SIGH.

Even if this winds up not working out I'll still be able to teach myself how to use this program, which is definitely a plus.
